We got hooked on birdwatching and found there are a lot more birds in Chicago than pigeons, robins, mallards, Canadian Geese, gulls, and sparrows. I started taking pictures of them and ended up with far too many to post on my Chicago Daily Photo site. So I started this separate site just for the birds.
I really like the Eastern Kingbird. They have lovely markings and are enjoyable (and easy) to watch because they remain in the same general area for awhile. They perch and watch. Fly off for a bug and then return to the same (or nearly the same) perch.
While they usually strike a rather stately pose, as the last photo shows, they are quite capable of an occasional goofy look.
I love those snow white feathers on the breast! That last shot is a cute pose.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie. His tummy almost looks like it's covered in fur rather than feathers.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos of the E. Kingbird! We saw scads of these recently @ the wildlife refuge near Hutchinson, KS.
ReplyDeleteThe last shot is amazing!
